In a significant step toward ensuring transparent and fair elections, Vice President of Sierra Leone, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh held a crucial meeting with Evin Incir, the Chief Observer of the European Union Election Observer Mission in Sierra Leone.
In a post shared on social media, VP Jalloh disclosed that the discussion primarily revolved around the preparedness for the forthcoming elections on June 24, focusing on key areas such as implementing recommendations, enhancing the representation of women, and bolstering poll security.
“I met with Evin Incir, the Chief Observer of the European Union Election Observer Mission in Sierra Leone. We discussed election preparedness regarding the forthcoming elections on June 24, including the concrete steps towards implementing their recommendations, improving the representation of women and the security of the polls. We look forward to the progressive deployment of the mission,” he stated.
The meeting between the Vice President and the EU Chief Election Observer reaffirmed the government’s dedication to conducting free, fair, and peaceful elections, acknowledging the vital role that international election observation missions play in promoting transparency and public trust.
The European Union Election Observer Mission arrived earlier this month in Sierra Leone in a bid to ensure credible and democratic elections slated for 24 June 2023.
