Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, has broken his silence following an online clash with First Lady Fatima Maada Bio over comments linked to the country’s future leadership and succession debate.
In a fresh statement, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party would retain power in the 2028 general elections.
“Take it to the bank —the SLPP will win the 2028 elections because President Bio has mentored the next generation of political and governance leaders; and because of his hard work of delivery: human capital, infrastructure and investment,” he wrote.
The latest remarks come just after a political debate emerged within Sierra Leone’s ruling establishment following comments made by Sengeh and a swift public response from the First Lady, which many observers interpreted as signs of tension within the ruling SLPP over the succession of President Julius Maada Bio
