Sierra Leonean Afro-fusion artist Umar Babah Conteh, popularly known as Adfega, has stirred major controversy in the entertainment industry after accusing fellow entertainment figures of deliberately blocking his rise to stardom.

In a series of emotional Facebook posts and a viral video circulating widely on social media, Adfega alleged that key opportunities meant to elevate his music career were diverted, leaving him struggling professionally while others in the industry allegedly benefited from his downfall.

The artist specifically mentioned fellow musician Drizilik and media personality Vickie Remoe, claiming events surrounding a 2023 United States performance opportunity marked the beginning of what he now describes as the collapse of his musical journey.

According to Adfega, he had been invited for a performance linked to the Howard Theatre in the United States before circumstances allegedly changed unexpectedly.

“2023 R sen me passport to Drizilik en Vickie Remoe… dem use me passport en swap me destiny,” he wrote in one of the viral posts that quickly sparked intense online debate.

The singer claimed that since the incident, major career opportunities including international exposure, collaborations, and industry growth allegedly slipped away from him, while others advanced successfully in the music business.

In a separate statement that further intensified the controversy, Adfega wrote: “Drizilik Is From Hell.”

Speaking in a 2-minute-25-second viral video, the visibly emotional musician insisted that his allegations were not made out of impulse or temporary frustration.

“I just don’t wake up one morning and make such decision… it’s something I have been thinking for years,” he said.

He also maintained that he does not believe in destroying others in order to achieve success, despite the seriousness of the accusations he levelled.

The claims have since divided public opinion across Sierra Leone’s entertainment circles and digital spaces. While some social media users dismissed the allegations as baseless and emotionally driven, others expressed sympathy toward the artist, suggesting the pressures of the entertainment industry may have contributed to his frustrations.

Many fans have also questioned why the allegations are only emerging now, nearly three years after the alleged incident.

As discussions continue to dominate online conversations, neither Drizilik nor Vickie Remoe has publicly responded to the accusations at the time of publication.
