Speaker of Parliament Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas has issued a stern warning to Members of Parliament (MPs) to remove abandoned vehicles from the parliamentary compound, stating that the premises must not become a dumping ground.
The directive followed reports that MPs’ vehicles were scattered across the compound, with some cars brought in by individuals described as “strangers.”
“If you know you don’t need your vehicle, make sure you carry them away,” Speaker Thomas cautioned.
He gave MPs a two-week deadline to act and threatened that if the vehicles were not removed, the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) would be called in to tow them.
“If SLRA carries the vehicles away, you would have to pay to get it back… or we will have to auction them,” he warned.
