The Faculty of Design and Innovation (FDI) has recorded a major milestone after its students unveiled a newly designed kit for Eastern Lions Football Club, produced entirely by the student team under the DiLegendary Brand.
The kit was publicly unveiled at the club’s grand opening ceremony, marking a significant moment for both the university community and Sierra Leone’s sporting sector.
Designed, conceptualized, and executed by FDI students, the kit reflects the faculty’s emphasis on practical, industry-oriented training. Students were involved in every stage of the process, from initial sketches and concept development to final production, showcasing creativity, technical competence, and professional discipline.

The project is being highlighted as an example of how local creative talent can deliver high-quality, market-ready design solutions for national institutions. It also reinforces the faculty’s goal of bridging academic learning with real-world industry experience.
According to the faculty, the final product is both visually appealing and functionally suited for competitive football, meeting the demands of professional play while maintaining strong brand identity.
Beyond the finished kit, the initiative provided students with hands-on experience in client engagement, iterative design processes, production coordination, and brand strategy—skills considered essential for careers in design, sports branding, and creative entrepreneurship.
The collaboration between FDI, DiLegendary Brand, and Eastern Lions FC is also seen as a model for future partnerships between academic institutions and industry stakeholders in Sierra Leone. It demonstrates how such engagements can enhance student readiness while contributing to national creative and commercial development.

Officials noted that the project underscores the potential of academic innovation to support local industry growth and strengthen Sierra Leone’s creative economy.
