Civil society activist Daniel S. Pewa has drawn public attention to the deteriorating condition of the Youyi Building, a major government complex that houses several ministries and departments.
In footage he recently shared, Pewa provided what he described as an unfiltered view of the premises, alleging that parts of the building have effectively been turned into a dumpsite. The visuals highlight areas littered with waste, raising concerns about sanitation, maintenance, and overall facility management.
Describing the situation as “a national embarrassment,” Pewa criticised what he sees as neglect in one of the country’s most important administrative centres. He argued that the condition of such a prominent government building reflects poorly on public sector standards and accountability.
The Youyi Building serves as a central hub for government operations, making its upkeep critical not only for workers but also for members of the public who access services there.
Pewa’s claims have sparked conversations among citizens, with many calling for immediate action to address sanitation issues and restore the complex’s dignity.
Authorities are yet to respond to the allegations publicly.
