Police officers at the Sawulia Checkpoint have arrested a man found in possession of several items suspected to have been stolen from a telecentre in the Diang Chiefdom.

The suspect, identified as Alie Fofanah of Manjoro, Biriwa Chiefdom, was arrested on Monday, 22 June 2026, during a routine checkpoint operation.

According to the Sierra Leone Police, officers discovered a black bag in the suspect’s possession containing 24 used Android mobile phones of different models, 54 used SIM cards, a black-handled knife, a razor blade, four Android phone ejector pins, and Le390 in cash.

Police suspect the items were stolen from a telecentre in Segbeya, Dalakuru Area, Diang Chiefdom. Fofanah and the recovered items are currently being held at Panlap Police Station as investigations continue.

The Sierra Leone Police said the arrest highlights the importance of checkpoints and the role of security personnel in preventing and responding to theft and other criminal activities.
