The All Peoples Congress (APC) has officially named Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh as its new National Chairman, ensuring leadership continuity after the recent passing of veteran politician Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray.
The transition was announced to the party membership and the general public in a public notice dated July 8, 2026, issued from the party’s headquarters in Freetown.
According to the notice signed by National Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya, the party’s National Advisory Committee (NAC) convened a meeting on July 1, 2026, to address matters regarding the ongoing administration of the APC following the late chairman’s death.
During this meeting, Yansaneh, who had already been serving as the Acting National Chairman, was duly sworn in as the official National Chairman.
The party noted that the process was undertaken solely to ensure stability and was conducted in accordance with Article 47 of the APC Constitution, which was adopted on March 7, 2022.
The leadership change follows the death of Hon. Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray who passed away on June 15, 2026, at a clinic in Dakar, Senegal, following a long illness.
Mansaray was a respected statesman who previously served as the Minister of Labour and the Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources under former President Ernest Bai Koroma. He had been an influential member of the party’s National Advisory Council for years.
