The United Nations Country Team (UNCT), led by Resident Coordinator a.i. George Ammah, on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, received a briefing from Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, on preparations for the forthcoming ECOWAS Summit during a meeting at State House in Freetown.

The engagement focused on updates regarding the regional summit and provided an opportunity for the Government of Sierra Leone and the United Nations Country Team to strengthen coordination on national development priorities and areas of mutual cooperation.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Sengeh expressed the Government’s appreciation for the UNCT’s continued partnership and support for Sierra Leone, as well as its commitment to the ECOWAS integration process.

He underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the Government and the United Nations in advancing the country’s development agenda.

In response, the United Nations Country Team reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Sierra Leone’s development efforts and welcomed ongoing initiatives aimed at deepening cooperation with the Government.

The UNCT noted that stronger collaboration would further enhance joint efforts toward achieving sustainable development, promoting regional cooperation, and delivering shared priorities for the benefit of the people of Sierra Leone.

The meeting highlighted the longstanding partnership between the Government of Sierra Leone and the United Nations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to working closely together in support of national development and the successful hosting of the upcoming ECOWAS Summit.
