Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba Road Court No.6 in Freetown has sentenced Lansana Kamara, a 24-year-old, laborer for theft country to section 2(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offense, on Wednesday 15 March 2023, at Crabtown, Aberdeen Freetown, the accused stole six big fish; that was in the custody of Marie conteh valued at seven hundred and fifty thousand old Leones (Le750,000) property of Fatmata Conteh.
However, after hearing the charge in Court, the accused pleaded guilty and asked for mercy.
Meanwhile, the accused, when asked where he had carried the fish; admitted, to selling the fish at one hundred and twenty old Leones (Le120,000) to an unknown buyer.
However, the complainant requested for the accused to go and collect the fish from the buyer but to no avail.
Due to the plea mitigation, Magistrate Peter Gogra sentenced the accused to the male correctional center for two months imprisonment
Deputy Superintendent of Police Marie Sesay was the prosecutor of the matter.
