The National Executive Committee of the Actors Guild Sierra Leone (AGSL), led by its National President Abdulai Saidu Kamara, popularly known as Glamour Raider, has paid a courtesy visit to Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr at the Freetown City Council.

The engagement, held on Thursday, 9 July 2026, focused on strengthening collaboration between the Guild and the Council in promoting Sierra Leone’s creative and cultural industries.

During the meeting, the AGSL delegation presented its vision, mission and strategic priorities, while highlighting possible areas of partnership, including arts and culture, tourism promotion, civic education, environmental awareness and youth empowerment through film, theatre and other creative platforms.

The Guild also expressed its appreciation to Mayor Aki-Sawyerr for granting the meeting and commended her leadership efforts in areas including environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, community development and good governance.

Responding, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr welcomed the delegation and praised the Actors Guild Sierra Leone for its commitment to professionalism and the growth of the country’s creative sector.

She encouraged the Guild to develop creative projects and public awareness campaigns that support key initiatives of the Freetown City Council, particularly the “Dorti Mus Go” Campaign and the Tree Planting Initiative.

The Mayor noted that creative arts could serve as an effective tool for promoting positive behavioural change, environmental responsibility and civic awareness. She further advised the Guild to submit detailed project proposals on possible areas of collaboration and assured them of her office’s willingness to engage in initiatives that promote sustainability and youth development.

The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening partnerships in arts, culture, environmental protection and national development.
