Students and graduates of the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology (EBKUST), Port Loko Campus, are appealing to the university management and government to urgently address delays in the release of academic documents and decentralise administrative services.
In a public appeal, the affected students said many graduates who completed their academic requirements on 13 December 2025 are yet to receive their Statements of Results or transcripts, more than seven months later.
They said the delay is affecting their ability to secure employment, pursue further studies, and advance their careers after years of academic commitment and financial investment.
The students also criticised the requirement for Port Loko Campus students to travel to the university’s main administrative centre in Magburaka for applications and follow-ups. They called for the campus to have functional administrative systems to process and distribute official documents locally.
According to the students, travelling between Port Loko and Magburaka costs more than NLe 350 per trip, with some claiming they have spent over NLe 1,000 after making repeated journeys without receiving their documents.
They are demanding the immediate release of outstanding academic documents, decentralisation of administrative services at the Port Loko Campus, and intervention from the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education to ensure tertiary institutions address delays affecting graduates.
The students urged EBKUST management to take urgent action, stressing that graduates who have fulfilled all academic requirements deserve timely access to their official records.
