The family of Kadija Bangura has made a public appeal for urgent financial and medical assistance as the young woman continues to battle a prolonged illness that has reportedly failed to respond to treatment.

Kadija, who lives along Arabia College Road in Makeni, was visited on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, where she highlighted her deteriorating condition and the difficult circumstances facing her family.

According to her relatives, she has been taken to several hospitals across Sierra Leone in search of specialised care, but her health has not significantly improved. The family says the continuous search for treatment has placed a heavy emotional and financial burden on them.

Kadija was once known in her community as a vibrant young model who participated in beauty pageants. Her illness has, however, left her physically weak and unable to continue the activities that once defined her youthful aspirations.

Her mother, who is currently her primary caregiver, said the family is struggling to meet the cost of medical treatment and daily care. She explained that the situation became more difficult after Kadija’s father reportedly abandoned the family, leaving her to shoulder the responsibility alone.

The family is now appealing to the Government of Sierra Leone, humanitarian organisations, philanthropists, and members of the public to assist Kadija in accessing further medical treatment and support.

They expressed hope that public intervention could help improve her condition and restore hope to a young woman they described as courageous despite the challenges she faces.

The appeal has also called on well-wishers to share Kadija’s story and support the family in any way possible as they continue to seek help for her recovery.
