School-going children in Pujehun District are reportedly being forced to trek long distances to and from school as several school buses remain abandoned and out of service.
Residents say the buses have been unused for a long period despite the transportation challenges faced by students, particularly those living far from their schools.
The situation, according to residents, is placing an additional burden on schoolchildren and their families, with students having to walk considerable distances to attend classes.
Residents are therefore calling on the relevant authorities and stakeholders to urgently intervene by assessing the condition of the abandoned buses and repairing or restoring them where possible.
They are also appealing for the buses to be returned to service to ease the transportation difficulties faced by students and support regular school attendance.
Residents say urgent action is needed to address the situation and ensure that schoolchildren in Pujehun can access education without the added challenge of long daily journeys on foot.
