A 50th-minute substitute, Yusif Neto transformed Moeba Community from certain losers to comeback kings in a 2-2 draw against Blackhall Road Community yesterday at the Approved School Field in Wellington, Freetown.
The 19-year-old introduced early in the second half, scored the equaliser in the 69th minute and earned man-of-the-match honours in the Approved School Sports Promoters Association (ASSPA) Inter-Community League fixture, according to post-match announcements.
Blackhall Road had established a 2-0 advantage earlier in the contest. Moeba reduced the deficit to 2-1 before Neto’s introduction, match officials confirmed. Neto received a pass from Hassan Conteh inside the box, dribbled past Blackhall Road centre-half and slotted home to level the score at 2-2 in the 69th minute.
Neto’s introduction at the 50-minute mark proved pivotal, shifting momentum decisively in Moeba’s favour, spectators at the venue told reporters. The draw keeps Moeba’s campaign alive in the 32-team competition, which offers a record Le150,000 prize for champions, ASSPA organisers confirmed.
The Approved School Field, located in the east of Freetown, recently underwent FIFA-standard artificial turf installation overseen by the Sierra Leone Football Association. ASSPA Chairman Abu Bakarr Kamara has described the league as a hub for youth development and community engagement.
