Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has expressed support for the Sierra Leone Association of Communication and Public Relations Professionals (SLACPRP) to strengthen professionalism, ethical standards and effective communication within Sierra Leone’s public relations and communications sector.
The Minister made the remarks during a meeting with representatives of SLACPRP as part of the association’s ongoing national stakeholder engagements aimed at exploring partnerships and advancing the communications and public relations landscape in Sierra Leone.
Discussions focused on key areas including policy alignment and leadership, ethical advertising and public-interest safeguards, professionalisation and accreditation, media–public relations collaboration, misinformation mitigation, as well as evidence-based research and policy intelligence.
Minister Bah recognised the professionalism demonstrated by SLACPRP in its work and expressed support for the association’s recognition as a professional body within the Ministry’s policy framework.
He also encouraged SLACPRP to review existing national information and media policies and identify practical areas where the association and the Ministry can collaborate to strengthen the country’s communications ecosystem.
The Minister further assured the association of the Ministry’s continued support and partnership, including efforts to strengthen Sierra Leone’s representation at the 37th Annual Conference and World PR Forum of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), scheduled to take place in Nigeria in November.
The engagement forms part of SLACPRP’s broader efforts to build strategic partnerships, promote professional standards and strengthen leadership within Sierra Leone’s communications and public relations sector.
The association described the engagement as more than a routine stakeholder meeting, noting that stronger collaboration between government and communication professionals is essential to shaping the future of communications and public relations in Sierra Leone.
