Post a comment Hon. Hawa Akpajie Kallon has continued her developmental initiatives in her constituency by supporting the first-ever summer school programme in Gendema Town, Sorogbema Chiefdom, Pujehun District.
The initiative is aimed at providing pupils with additional academic support during the school holiday period and preparing them for the new academic year.
Speaking during the programme, the Coordinator of the Hon. Hawa Akpajie Kallon Summer School, Steve J. Sheriff, expressed appreciation to Madam Kallon for her continued support for education and development in Sorogbema Chiefdom.
Sheriff explained that stakeholders in the community observed that Gendema Town had never previously benefited from an organised summer school whenever schools were on vacation. He said the stakeholders therefore decided to develop and submit a proposal to Hon. Kallon, who approved and funded the initiative.
According to him, the summer school caters for pupils and students from Primary One to Senior Secondary School Three (SSS 3).
He noted that the programme is being facilitated by trained and qualified teachers, who are receiving stipends for their services.
Sheriff further commended Hon. Kallon for supporting several developmental initiatives across her constituency, including agriculture, education, healthcare, community and infrastructural development, as well as grants and other forms of support for women and young people.
The pupils also expressed their appreciation to Hon. Kallon for investing in their education, describing the initiative as important to their academic development.
They appealed for the continuation of the summer school programme and called for the provision of school materials to support them during the upcoming academic year.
Speaking on her commitment to development, Hon. Hawa Akpajie Kallon said she believes strongly in investing in her people and remains ready to respond to their needs.
She encouraged the pupils to make good use of the opportunity provided through the summer school, noting that the programme would help strengthen their academic performance and prepare them for the challenges of the new school year.
Hon. Kallon also promised to continue organising and supporting the summer school programme whenever schools close for vacation, reaffirming her commitment to improving educational opportunities for children and young people in her constituency.
The initiative has been widely welcomed by community members and pupils, who see it as a significant step towards strengthening education and promoting academic excellence in Sorogbema Chiefdom.
