The Kabala Police Division has intercepted 22 individuals, including 12 children, at Gbinndi Park in Kabala Town as they were reportedly preparing to travel towards Guinea.
Radio Shalom reports that the group was intercepted on August 30, 2026, and comprises 10 adults and 12 children. The adults include one male and nine females, while the children consist of five boys and seven girls.
Following the interception, all 22 individuals were taken into police custody as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding their planned journey and, particularly, the involvement of the children.
The development has drawn attention to the movement of children across the border, with police expected to establish the identities of those involved and determine the purpose and arrangements behind the intended trip.
Representatives from the Civil Society Unit were also present during the gathering, according to information gathered by Radio Shalom Court and Human Rights Reporter Jennifer P. Mansaray. Those present included Madam Mankie and Steaven Gebrila Mamaya.
Police have not yet released further information about the identities of the individuals or disclosed whether anyone has been arrested in connection with the planned movement.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding the group’s intended journey to Guinea.
