SLPP Delegation Departs for China to Unlock Economic Opportunities for Grassroots
Sahid Bangura A delegation of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), led by National Chairman Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, has departed Sierra Leone for China to explore economic and business opportunities aimed at improving the livelihoods of the party’s grassroots members.
The delegation, which left on Sunday, November 1, 2026, comprises key members of the party’s executive and grassroots representatives. The visit is intended to advance the SLPP’s commitment to economic empowerment and sustainable livelihood opportunities for its supporters.
During the mission, the delegation is expected to engage manufacturers, factory owners and strategic business partners in China to explore potential trade arrangements, business partnerships and other economic opportunities that could benefit party members.
Speaking ahead of the engagement, Chairman Songa said the initiative was aimed at translating the party’s commitment to grassroots empowerment into practical economic opportunities.
“Grassroots members deserve more than political recognition—they deserve lasting economic prosperity. Together, we are turning promises into action,” he stated.
The China mission is expected to focus on establishing partnerships that could create opportunities for grassroots members to participate in trade and business activities, while supporting their economic independence and long-term livelihoods.
