Sierra Leone international midfielder and winger John Thomas “Jay Tee” Kamara played 80 minutes for Portland Hearts of Pine as they drew 1-1 with Chattanooga Red Wolves in USL League One on Saturday.
Kamara started the match and remained on the field for 80 minutes before being replaced as Portland held onto a point in the encounter.
The midfielder’s appearance came in a match that saw Chattanooga mount sustained pressure, particularly from set pieces. According to the Red Wolves’ official match report, the hosts won 10 corners during the game.
Portland took the lead through Felipe Rodriguez, who converted from a corner in the first half. Chattanooga continued to press for an equalizer and eventually found it in second-half stoppage time through Omar Hernandez.
The late goal ensured the teams shared the points, with Portland unable to add to Rodriguez’s earlier strike.
Kamara’s latest outing adds to his involvement with Hearts of Pine during the 2026 USL League One campaign. FotMob lists him with 23 appearances and 13 starts in the competition, with three goals and six assists, although statistical databases can differ depending on competition and update timing.
Kamara, whose full name is John Thomas Kamara, was born in Freetown on May 10, 2002. He began playing football with Alaska FC in Sierra Leone before moving to the United States to attend Montverde Academy in Florida.
He signed with Louisville City FC in 2021 and spent that season on loan at North Carolina FC, where he made 21 appearances in USL League One. He later joined Columbus Crew 2 before moving to Sweden, where he played for Ljungskile SK and Sandvikens IF.
Kamara joined Portland Hearts of Pine in 2025 and made an immediate impact during his first season. The club says he recorded six goals and four assists in 25 appearances in his debut campaign.
Internationally, Kamara has represented Sierra Leone at youth level and made his senior debut in 2026. He was called up for the national team’s March 2026 friendly against Azerbaijan and came on as a late substitute in the 1-1 draw, before scoring in the subsequent penalty shootout.
