Government Confirms Adequate Fuel Supply, Maintains Pump Prices at NLe40 and NLe45
Aaron Parker The Government of Sierra Leone has confirmed that the country has adequate fuel supplies and assured the public that Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) will continue selling petroleum products at the current agreed pump prices.
In a public notice issued by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education on September 24, 2026, the government said pump prices will remain unchanged following engagements with OMCs.
Under the current arrangement, petrol will continue to sell at NLe40.00 per litre, while diesel will remain at NLe45.00 per litre.
The government said the current full pass-through prices, which reflect the cost without government subsidy, stand at NLe41.80 per litre for petrol and NLe47.89 per litre for diesel.
To maintain the existing pump prices, the government is subsidising NLe1.80 per litre on petrol and NLe2.89 per litre on diesel.
According to the Ministry, the subsidy will remain in place until the next fuel price review.
The government also said it will continue to provide additional targeted fuel subsidies for Waka Fine buses to support the maintenance of current public transport fares.
Meanwhile, the government said it will continue engaging OMCs and monitoring fuel supply, distribution and prices across the country.
