Deadly Road Crash Kills School Teacher, Leaves Several Injured at Regent Highway
Sahid Bangura One person has reportedly been killed and several others seriously injured following a deadly road crash along the Regent Highway in the Western Area during the night of Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The deceased has reportedly been identified as a school teacher and motorcycle rider, while the injured victims were rushed to the Chinese Hospital in Jui for medical treatment.
Ibrahim Koroma, one of the drivers involved in the crash, said he was travelling from Lumley when the incident occurred.
According to Koroma, a Jeep allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle and moved from its lane into his path. He said he tried to avoid the collision but was unable to do so because of the Jeep’s speed.
“I tried balancing the Jeep, but it was already late considering its speed,” Koroma said, explaining that the Jeep struck his vehicle before colliding with another vehicle travelling behind him.
Koroma said he was unable to establish the whereabouts of the driver of the Jeep following the crash.
He also said he could not immediately confirm the total number of casualties, but confirmed that at least one person had died and several others sustained injuries.
The injured victims were subsequently taken to the Chinese Hospital in Jui for medical attention.
Details surrounding the cause of the crash and the identities of the other victims remain unclear as authorities are expected to investigate the incident.
