Sierra Leone Government Opens Recruitment for 2 Specialist Cybersecurity Positions
Sahid Bangura The Government of Sierra Leone, through the National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre (NC3), has opened applications for two specialist positions as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s national cybersecurity capacity.
The vacancies are for a Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) Specialist at Grade Level 9 and an Associate Analyst at Grade Level 6. Both positions are full-time and pensionable within the public service, with competitive salaries attached.
According to a vacancy announcement issued by NC3, the DFIR Specialist will oversee digital forensics and incident response operations within the national Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT).
The successful candidate will lead DFIR professionals, manage incident response processes, conduct digital forensic investigations and provide technical guidance on measures to prevent and mitigate cyber threats.
The position also requires knowledge of cybersecurity threats, standards, protocols and frameworks, as well as compliance with the Cybersecurity and Crime Act of 2021. The specialist will be expected to remain available on a 24-hour, seven-day on-call basis and possess the experience and professional integrity required to serve as an expert witness in court.
The Associate Analyst, meanwhile, will support the monitoring and analysis of cybersecurity systems and incidents.
Responsibilities will include monitoring security alerts and events, maintaining cybersecurity incident logs, monitoring firewalls and intrusion detection systems, conducting risk assessments and supporting the preparation and publication of security advisories.
The successful applicant will also assist with the escalation and remediation of cybersecurity incidents, as well as risk, vulnerability and penetration assessments. The position similarly requires 24/7 on-call availability.

NC3 has strongly encouraged qualified female candidates to apply. The Centre stated that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted, while successful candidates will be required to undergo security clearance before appointment.
The recruitment forms part of ongoing efforts by the Government to strengthen specialist capacity within Sierra Leone’s national cybersecurity architecture and improve the country’s ability to prevent, detect and respond to cyber threats.
