SLBA Election Date Confirmed as Caretaker Body Begins Preparations
Aaron Parker The Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA) has announced that its forthcoming election for Directors of the Association will be held on 26 October 2026 at the Freetown International Conference Center, Bintumani, Aberdeen, Freetown.
The announcement follows the Extraordinary General Meeting held on Thursday, 6 August 2026, during which the newly constituted SLBA Caretaker Body, led by Chairman Osman Ibrahim Kanu Esq., assumed responsibility for overseeing the election process.
According to the Association, the Caretaker Body is committed to conducting the elections in a transparent, accountable, professional and orderly manner.
The election is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on the announced date.
The Caretaker Body said it will develop the necessary rules and procedures to guide the conduct of the elections. It added that further details concerning nomination procedures, voter verification, polling arrangements and other relevant electoral processes will be communicated to members through the Association’s official channels.
The Caretaker Body also emphasized the importance of preserving the dignity, independence, unity and professional integrity of the Sierra Leone Bar Association throughout the transition and electoral process.
It has therefore called on all members to cooperate fully with the arrangements as preparations continue, stressing that their cooperation is important to the collective interests of the Association and the wider legal profession.
The SLBA Caretaker Body said additional updates will be issued as preparations for the election progress.
