Sierra Leonean entertainers Bakitenno and Legacy Boi are set to face off in a live boxing match on December 16, 2026, as part of an event organised by World Blog Media (WBM) in partnership with Chapter One to promote unity and peaceful coexistence within the entertainment industry.

The event will combine a boxing contest with musical performances, bringing together supporters of both entertainers and other members of the public in an effort to reduce hostility among celebrity fan bases and encourage mutual respect.

Speaking in an interview, Chapter One Operational Manager Tawanda Chinodya said the initiative was designed to strengthen relationships among entertainers and discourage rivalries that sometimes spill over into public disagreements and social media exchanges.

Chinodya explained that the partnership was inspired by WBM’s vision of encouraging artists to look beyond their differences and build positive relationships, particularly when disagreements between entertainers begin to divide their supporters.

He said the event would use sports and music as platforms for reconciliation, emphasising that Sierra Leoneans remain one people despite differences in musical preferences, personal opinions and entertainment rivalries.

According to Chinodya, combining boxing with musical performances would attract different audiences and create an opportunity for supporters of both entertainers to interact peacefully. He added that the aim was to encourage healthy competition rather than deepen existing divisions.

He also disclosed that Bakitenno and Legacy Boi were expected to release a collaborative song as part of efforts to reinforce the event’s message of unity and demonstrate that competition does not prevent artists from working together.

Security arrangements are also expected to be a key part of preparations. Chinodya said the organisers planned to deploy security personnel and use scanning equipment to prevent prohibited weapons from entering the venue. He urged supporters to attend peacefully and avoid turning the contest into a personal confrontation.

On the boxing arrangements, he said the entertainers were expected to receive training from boxing professionals and use appropriate protective equipment. Ensuring compliance with relevant rules and safety requirements will be important to protect both participants during the contest.

The event is expected to provide a platform for entertainment while promoting dialogue, friendship and peaceful relationships among artists and their supporters.

Organisers are encouraging fans of both Bakitenno and Legacy Boi to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and recognise that competition in entertainment should not lead to hostility.

The December 16 programme is intended to demonstrate how sports and entertainment can bring people together, with the organisers hoping that the message of unity and mutual respect will extend beyond the event itself.
