Native Consortium and Citizens Praise Zala Fuel Stations for Selling Below Official Prices
The Native Consortium, alongside citizens across Sierra Leone, has praised Zala fuel stations for selling petrol and diesel below the official pump prices, with plans reportedly underway to recognise the company for its pricing policy.
The consortium said citizens in Bo and Kenema are considering presenting an award to Zala in appreciation of its fuel prices, while discussions are also underway to nominate the company for a broader award.
The Executive Director of the Native Consortium, Edmond Abu Jr., disclosed the development in a statement highlighting his discovery of a Zala fuel station along the Bo-Kenema Highway.
Abu said he discovered the station in Serabu, a village along the route towards Blama, after purchasing fuel at Aminata Hanga Road for his journey to Freetown.
According to him, the Zala station was selling petrol at Le39 per litre and diesel at Le44 per litre. He added that he understood Zala stations across the country were maintaining the same prices.
“Congratulations, Zala,” Abu said, commending the company for its pricing.
The Native Consortium’s praise reflects public appreciation for fuel pricing that offers relief to motorists and other consumers amid concerns about the cost of petroleum products.
However, the consortium’s account of the prices and the proposed awards has not been independently verified.
