The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security has assured workers of Marampa Mines Limited (MML) that it will continue engaging the company’s management to ensure they receive their legal entitlements following the announcement of a temporary shutdown.

In a public notice dated 26 October 2026, the Ministry said it had taken note of the company’s announcement of the temporary shutdown, which was attributed to economic and other reasons.

The Ministry disclosed that it had previously engaged MML management, with the involvement of the union, to amicably address the challenges facing the company.

According to the Ministry, the engagements were aimed at taking proactive steps to protect the rights of all parties during the difficult period.

The Ministry further assured the general public, particularly the workforce of Marampa Mines, that it would continue working with the union to engage the company’s management and ensure that workers receive their legal entitlements during the shutdown.

It also expressed solidarity with both the workforce and management of MML, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining constructive engagement with the company as efforts continue to address the challenges.
