First Lady Fatima Bio Backs Presidential Pardon Appeal for Zainab Sheriff
Sahid Bangura Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Bio, has expressed her willingness to support calls for the release of entertainer Zainab Sheriff, urging her supporters to pursue the appropriate legal channels in seeking her freedom.
Madam Bio made the statement on Monday, October 26, 2026, during the National Unity and Social Cohesion Conference in Freetown, where she addressed calls by musicians and other supporters advocating for Sheriff’s release.
The First Lady clarified that she was not responsible for Sheriff’s imprisonment but said she was prepared to join those appealing for a presidential pardon.
She encouraged supporters to engage the relevant legal authorities, including the Judiciary and the police, who brought the matter before the court, as they continue their efforts to secure Sheriff’s release.
Her remarks come amid growing appeals from musicians and other supporters seeking clemency for the entertainer.
