The Sierra Leone Law School has directed all admitted students to comply strictly with its dress code, requiring formal and professional attire for the institution’s orientation ceremony and all subsequent classes.

In a notice dated October 27, 2026, the school said students are expected to observe the dress requirements during the orientation ceremony scheduled for Monday, November 2, at 9:00 a.m., and whenever they attend classes or are on campus.

The notice, issued by Registrar Daniel J. Lavally Esq., outlines specific clothing requirements for male and female students as part of the school’s standards for discipline, professionalism and decorum.

Male students are required to wear a black or navy-blue suit, a white shirt and a black tie. They must also wear black formal shoes with dark socks and ensure their hair is neatly groomed and trimmed.

Female students are required to wear a black or navy-blue dress suit, or a black skirt or trouser suit paired with a white shirt or blouse. The school also requires black, closed-toe formal shoes without ornaments, noting that flats and modest chunky-heeled loafers are acceptable.

The notice further directs female students to maintain neat hairstyles and keep makeup and jewellery modest, with dangling earrings prohibited. Sandals, slippers and casual shoes are not permitted.

The school emphasised that full compliance with the dress code is expected, describing the requirements as a reflection of its commitment to maintaining discipline and professional standards among students.

The directive comes ahead of the new students’ orientation and sets out the institution’s expectations for professional appearance as admitted students prepare to begin their legal education.
