WARDC Moves to Tackle Sanitation Challenges with New Task Force
The Western Area Rural District Council (WARDC) has established a Waste Management Task Force to strengthen sanitation monitoring, improve waste management operations and promote a cleaner environment across the district.
The establishment of the task force, announced in a public notice dated October 28, 2026, follows persistent waste management challenges within the district. The initiative, instituted by the Chairman of the Council, Kasho J. Holland-Cole, is aimed at improving supervision, coordination and accountability in waste management and cleaning activities.
According to the Council, the task force will be responsible for monitoring and supervising waste management operations, assessing the efficiency of cleaning activities, identifying sanitation challenges and conducting field inspections. It will also make recommendations to improve waste management practices and maintain cleanliness throughout the district.
The seven-member task force comprises Amadu Mans Dabor, Mohamed Osman Koroma, Santigie Kargbo, Ibrahim Kargbo, Fatmata Kamara, Bola Pearce and Marie Lebbie.
The Council said the task force would work closely with relevant Council departments, communities, service providers and other stakeholders to strengthen sanitation efforts and support the creation of a cleaner and healthier environment across the Western Area Rural District.
WARDC has also called on residents, communities, businesses and other relevant stakeholders to cooperate with the task force and support it in carrying out its responsibilities.
