As Inmate Dies in Prison, Judge Orders For Production of Death Certificate
Justice Manuela Harding of the Sexual Modern Offences Court No.7 in Freetown blows hot on prison officers on an accused person when his matter was called and the officers said the accused in question was dead.
The Chief Prisons Officer Daniel Davies in his response to the Judge for the Death Certification of the accused person the Director General at Births and Deaths said a valid identification card of the accused person must be produced for every inmate serving time at the correctional facility before the issuance of a death certificate.
The corpse of the accused person he said is at the Connaught Mortuary. Justice Manuela Harding orders for the death certificate and cause of death of the accused person now deceased before the next adjourn
The matter has been adjourned to the 22nd of August 2022. O.V Robbin Mason Jnr is representing the State and the accused person now deceased is unrepresented.
