Tuesday 7th November, 2023, President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone met with Sierra Leoneans residing, working, and studying across Marrakech and the Kingdom of Morocco. This event served as a precursor to the Africa Investment Forum (AIF), exhibiting the President’s commitment to engaging with his compatriots abroad.

Expressing elation at connecting with Sierra Leoneans in diverse spheres and regions of Morocco, President Bio lauded their support and acknowledged their roles in bolstering the country’s progress. The President received accolades for his re-election and his government’s remarkable strides, particularly in the enhancement of human capital, and the provision of unprecedented opportunities for education in Morocco, a sentiment fervently expressed by the students.

“It is the Julius Maada Bio administration that has made it a possibility, and we are very grateful,” remarked one of the students.

President Bio urged the Sierra Leonean community, especially students, to serve as ambassadors for their nation, extolling the virtues of their homeland. He promised continued support for their welfare and encouraged them to bring back the positivity witnessed in Morocco.

In a separate development, President Bio engaged in discussions with Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB). The meeting centered on various areas of mutual interest, with the AfDB President assuring unwavering support for President Bio’s FEED SALONE program. Additionally, he stressed the urgency of advancing the Lungi Bridge project as a vital social and economic priority.

President Bio’s engagement with the Sierra Leonean community and his discussions with AfDB’s President underpin his commitment to fostering development and progress, both within Sierra Leone and across the African continent.
