Dr. Willette Princess Ransolina Oluwakemi James is smart, intelligent and an experienced Sierra Leonean journalist with a PhD in Communication and Media Studies, MPhil in Mass Communication, MA in Gender Studies, BA Hons (First Class) and Diploma in Mass Communication, all from the University of Sierra Leone. She has been in this profession for twenty years. She has served as managing editor of Salone times newspaper, news and current affairs manager at ABC television Africa, consultant editor of the premier newspaper etc.

It was after her master’s degree she started lecturing in the mass communication department. After serving as lecturer in the mass communications department for twelve years, Williette James became the head of department.

In 2018/2019 she completed her PHD in mass communication. During this time, Williette James also emerge as the first female president of the academic staff association of FBC and at the same time as president of the academic staff association of the university of Sierra Leone. Dr. James is the CEO of BriJette Media & Foundation and Founder of Women Leaders Initiative.

Williette James is a practicing Christian, straight forward, kind and creative. She is a great singer and a writer. She has written and published dozens of articles for various media houses; some of which are secret pains of a village mother 1 and the EBK effect article which won an award for the best political story.

Williette James is known for being resourceful, diplomatic, impartial and straight forward lecturer and HOD. I remembered when some of her students were going through tough times and driven out of examination hall because they could not pay their fees before examination, she made sure that she brought all of them back in and allowed them take the exam. She always sees to it that her students complete their examination.

She is a self-disciplined wife and mother of three, well organized, does her work carefully and cares about the details, always happy, smiling and always friendly; but doesn’t encourage lazy and manner less people.

Williette James is indeed a mother and a leader!
