Anglican Diocese of Bo Calls for Stronger Faith, Love and Commitment at Diocesan Day Celebration

The Anglican Diocese of Bo has called on Christians to strengthen their faith in God, demonstrate courage in the face of challenges, and promote love and unity as essential values for Christian living.

The call was made on Sunday, 25 October 2026, during the Diocese’s 2026 Diocesan Day celebration held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church along Mission Road, Gobaru, Kpanga Krim Chiefdom, Pujehun District.

The celebration attracted church dignitaries, clergy, members of the Anglican congregation, security personnel, school pupils and the press who gathered to worship, reflect on Christian values and celebrate the work of the Church.

Delivering the sermon under the theme, “Be on Guard; Stand Firm in Faith; Be Courageous; Be Strong; Do Everything in Love,” taken from 1 Corinthians 16:13–14, Archdeacon James Yambasu George encouraged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and demonstrate courage, strength and love in their daily lives.

He anchored his message on the biblical passage, using practical examples to explain how the theme could guide Christians in responding to everyday challenges and fulfilling their responsibilities to God, their families and society. The Archdeacon’s message underscored the importance of combining spiritual commitment with love, discipline and responsible conduct in building a stronger Christian community.

In his address, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Bo, the Rt. Rev. Solomon Leonard Scott-Manga, urged worshippers to remain committed to the Lord, particularly at a time when, he observed, evil and troubling developments were becoming increasingly common in the world. He called on Christians to put God first in their lives and faithfully practice the values highlighted in this year’s theme, stressing the need for spiritual renewal and divine intervention in the affairs of the nation.

The Bishop expressed hope that God Almighty would redeem the country, encouraging the congregation to remain prayerful and steadfast rather than lose faith amid the challenges confronting society.

He also admonished priests and other clergy members to remain committed to preaching the Word of God and guiding their congregations in accordance with biblical teachings.

According to the Bishop, the increasing occurrence of negative developments in society makes it even more important for church leaders to fulfil their spiritual responsibilities and lead people towards godly living.

Bishop Scott-Manga commended the Diocesan Day planning committee and members of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Pujehun District for their tireless efforts in organising the celebration and ensuring its success.

He expressed appreciation for their commitment and contributions, praying that God would continue to shower His blessings upon them for their service to the Church.
The Bishop also expressed optimism for a new beginning in the coming year, encouraging members to sustain their dedication to the growth and development of the Anglican Diocese.

Various church members pledged to do more spiritually, morally and financially to support the Church’s mission and ensure the continued growth of its ministry.
Their commitments reflected a shared determination to strengthen the Church through active participation, moral discipline, spiritual development and financial support.

Adding colour to the occasion, pupils of Wanjama Government Secondary School for Girls attended in large numbers and actively participated in the programme.
The pupils presented a play, sang the national anthem in the Mende language and recited their school pledge, attracting attention from worshippers and other participants.
Their performances highlighted the role of young people in promoting cultural identity, discipline and community participation during important religious and public gatherings.

The celebration concluded with group photographs and merriment, marking the end of a gathering that brought together church leaders, worshippers, pupils and other stakeholders in a spirit of fellowship.
