A Cashier/Teller employed by the Ecobank, named Almira Abdullah, was on Monday 24th October,2022 appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of court no.1 for ab alleged embezzlement and stealing of over two hundred million leones from the bank.
The accused has been charged with nine counts, ranging from embezzlement and larceny by servant contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.

The charge sheet states on count 1 to 5 embezzlement and reads that the accused Almira Abdullah on a date unknown between May 2019 to 2022 and other different dates at the Ecobank branch in Lunsar and Portloko District, fraudulently embezzled the sum of two hundred million leones received by him from Andrew Habib Sesay, Aminata Sellu Kamara and Mariama Seray Koroma. In count six and nine is larceny by servant, the accused being a Cashier/ Teller employed by Ecobank allegedly stole over seventy four million leones being property of Ecobank Sierra Leone.

No bail was granted, ASP Dalia Wellington is prosecuting the matter. Matter adjourned to 9th November, 2022.
