The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs has announced the official launch of Freetown Fashion Week (FFW) 2025, a landmark event celebrating Sierra Leone’s rich heritage and resilience through fashion.

Themed “Roots and Resilience: Sierra Leone in Fashion,” the highly anticipated showcase will take place in April 2025, coinciding with the country’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

The event is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (MTCA) and Fashion Industry Insiders (FII). It aims to spotlight Sierra Leonean designers, artists, and creatives, providing them with an international platform to display their talent.

The two-day celebration will feature runway shows, pop-up exhibitions, live performances, and immersive cultural experiences, blending traditional influences with modern fashion trends.

Speaking on the initiative, Edmond Kamara, founder of Fashion Industry Insiders, emphasized the significance of the event in promoting Sierra Leone’s creative industry.

“We are excited to bring this vision to life. Sierra Leone has a wealth of talent, and we want to provide a platform for these creative minds to be recognized worldwide. This fashion week will celebrate our heritage and demonstrate how far Sierra Leone has come in its journey of resilience,” he stated.

Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Nabeela Tunis, also highlighted the broader impact of the event.
