Mayor Thomas Baio made his official handing over and a keynote address to the people of Kenema City at its final fourth ordinary council monthly meeting for the current political dispensation on the 24th of February, 2023 at the Kenema city council hall.

The meeting was in effect of the notice from the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs stating that all Mayors, District Chairpersons and Councillors are to step aside dated 8th February 2023.

In his address to all present, he highlighted briefly the successes and development strides of the Council during his tenure together with Joseph G. T. Gando the Chief Administrator.

The mayor catalogued his developmental strives and achievements within his tenure ranging from, Waste Management, Dakiya Street Stores, Construction of Culverts and bridges, Construction of a Metro Police Post, Construction of the City Hall, Construction of a passengers Inn, Rehabilitation of Kenema City Clock Tower and thanked the Paramount Chief and all stakeholders who have diversely played an eminent role in the success of the Kenema City Council since 2018.

The Mayor expressed thanks to President Bio and the First Lady for their support and positive intervention in issues relating to the development of Kenema as well as the SLPP party who made him mayor of the city council.

The Chief Administrator, Joseph G.T. Gando highlighted the tangibles projects and concluded that the Mayor and  Councillors have left an indelible mark in the history of Kenema City.

He reminded the Councillors to return all assets of the Council as per the notice from Government.  He said that the good relationship between the Council and Councillors will still continue and that the success of the Council was a result of the corporation of the Councillors.

However, the mayor has declared his intentions to run for a second term in office for continued development in Kenema City.
