Bike riders and passengers in Kenema District have on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, called on the government and relevant authorities to urgently complete the stalled road project linking Manor Junction, Tongo Field, Bumpeh, and Panguma to the Tongo Highway in Lower Bambara Chiefdom.
The appeal follows growing frustration over the deteriorating condition of the road, which has become extremely muddy and difficult to use, especially during the rainy season. Commuters say the poor state of the road is disrupting transportation, increasing travel time, and causing hardship for residents and traders who depend on the route for their daily activities.
According to local riders, they thought the construction of the road would bring relief, but it has caused more damage. However, the project was fully funded, yet the condition of the road is becoming worse than before.
As reported by Truth Media, Several commercial motorbike operators lamented that navigating the road has become increasingly dangerous. They said deep mud and uneven surfaces frequently cause accidents and damage to their motorcycles, reducing their income and exposing both riders and passengers to unnecessary risks.
Community members are now urging the government to intervene and provide the necessary resources to complete the project. They believe that rehabilitating the road would improve transportation, support local trade, enhance access to health and education services, and contribute to the socio-economic development of Lower Bambara Chiefdom.
As of the time of reporting, there has been no official statement from the authorities regarding when work on the road will resume.
