Defence Lawyer Closes Case in Former Mayor Aki-Sawyerr’s Matter
Fayia Junior Moseray The Lead defense counsel, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, in the alleged obstruction matter against Former Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, on Monday, 3rd April 2023, before Magistrate Mark Ngeba, closed his defense in favor of the accused.
The accused, Yvonne Aki Sawyerr, was arraigned before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.1 for the offense of obstruction of police duty and disorderly behavior.
However, shortly after the matter was brought up, Lead Defense Counsel, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, informed the Court that they as the defense, had closed their case; noting that they relied on the evidence they have presented before the Court.
Lawyer Kamara pleaded with the Magistrate for a three-week adjournment for him to submit a written no-case submission.
Magistrate Ngegba ordered the defense to serve the court and the prosecution, and to do the no-case submission not later than 17 April 2023, and that the prosecution should reply to the no-case submission not later than the 28th April 2023.
The matter was adjourned to the 2nd of May 2023.
