The Executive Director of Lifeline Nehemiah Project, Prince Tommy Williams, on Wednesday 8th January, 2022 informed this medium that he wrote a letter of complaint to the Chairperson, Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Trade, Honourable Veronica Kadie Sesay complaining the owner of Mackie Building Materials Ltd, Ahmed Mackie and one his staff Mr. Wahafiq, Manager of the Mackie Building Materials Company at Ferry Junction.

According to the letter, “it was in August 2021 that he paid for One Thousand (1000) bags of cement to Wahafiq at the Mackie Building Materials Ltd Ferry Junction. Wahafiq the Manager received the money from him and issued out receipt to the purchaser with promises to deliver the consignment by the first week of August.

Wahafiq and his team reportedly delivered Seven Hundred (700) bags of out of the 1000 bags of cement and promised to supply the rest since August and to date no supply has been received. The remaining balance of Three Hundred (300) bags of cement remains unpredictable.

It would be recalled that the purchaser met with the Manager of the Company, Mr Wahafiq and enquired from him about the balance of 300 bags of Imported Cement. To his greatest shock and surprises Wahafiq instructed him to go to the police and report the matter.

Further into the conversation, Mr. Wahafiq disclosed to him that, Jihad a staff of Mackie Building Materials Ltd had stolen over One Billion Leones worth of building materials and the matter is at the CID thus, “I should go to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to make a complaint about my balance 300 bags of cement”. I told Manager Wahafiq that, “I have no business with Jihad in the interest of peace, let Mackie Building Materials Ltd supply me my balance of 300 bags of cement but he failed to listen to me.

Additionally, “I took my records to the Head Office of Mackie Building Materials at 3 Wilberforce Street, Freetown, where I met with Ahmed Mackie the owner of Mackie Building Materials” “He went on to explain that he complained to him about the matter, but he replied him saying that he did no transaction with Mackie Building Materials Ltd, therefore I should go to the police”.

Standard Times Newspaper reports that, responding to the allegation, Ahmed Mackie, the owner of the Company sent his Manager’s (Wahafiq) contact to him, who informed me that he’s been instructed to direct anyone involved in Jihad’s case to the Criminal Investigation Department as they are handling the matter.
