Principal Magistrate of Pademba Road Court No.1, Magistrate Mark Ngegba has on Thursday 4th May, 2023 committed the matter of Abdul Rahman Bangura to the high court for trial after a preliminary hearing at the lower court.

The accused Abdul Rahman Bangura, is charged with Cyberbullying offences contrary to Section 44(2)(a) of the Cyber Security and Crime Act, 2021, Act No.7 of 2021.

According to the charge sheet, the accused person, on Monday 16th of May 2022 through social media via WhatsApp and Facebook, in Freetown, intentionally sent obscene messages to Bintu Mansaray using a computer system with the intent to provoke her to commit a breach of the peace.

It was also alleged that the accused person, on the same date through social media via WhatsApp and Facebook in Freetown, did send obscene Messages to Bintu Mansaray for annoying, inconvenience and damaging her character using a computer system with the intent to provoke her to commit a breach of the peace.

The accused was not represented by a lawyer, thus Magistrate Mark Ngegba committed the matter to High Court for trial.
