Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU) has launched the Sierra Leone Education in Entrepreneurial Pedagogy and Skills (SLEEK) Entrepreneurship Academy to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, practical skills development, and global networking opportunities for students, market women, persons with disabilities, and young people.

The academy is designed to serve as a hub for teaching and learning, knowledge-sharing, and business development, enabling participants to exchange ideas, explore entrepreneurial opportunities, and connect with individuals and organisations beyond Sierra Leone.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Papa Njai acknowledged the support of the Acting Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Dr Mohamed A. Jalloh, whose encouragement contributed to the successful implementation of the initiative.

Dr Jalloh commended the project team for establishing a facility that supports the university’s commitment to teaching, learning, innovation, and community engagement. He also encouraged other staff members to develop similar innovative projects that could contribute to the institution’s growth and transformation.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the official opening of the academy’s facility, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the Acting Vice-Chancellor. Guests and participants subsequently toured the centre before the programme concluded with a photo session.

Dr Jupta delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the university’s leadership, the project team, and all those who contributed to the successful launch.

The SLEEK Entrepreneurship Academy is expected to expand access to entrepreneurial knowledge, practical skills, and business networks, particularly for groups that may face barriers to such opportunities. The initiative also reflects MMTU’s commitment to practical learning, inclusive development, and staff-led innovation.
