Meet the Newly Appointed Minister of Youth Affairs.

Honourable Ibrahim Sannoh, following his appointment by President Julius Maada Bio on 8th May, 2025, has been unanimously approved by the House of Parliament as the new Minister of Youth Affairs.

Sannoh is tasked with the important responsibility of formulating and implementing policies aimed at empowering Sierra Leone’s youth and facilitating their involvement in national development.

Born in Bo City, Southern Province, to Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Sannoh, Honourable Sannoh began his educational journey at Saint Francis Primary School before moving on to Bo Government Secondary School. There, he distinguished himself academically, serving as Senior Prefect and completing his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 2006 with distinction, earning the nickname “S.P. Sannoh.”

He continued his studies at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Political Science. During his time at university, he was actively involved in student leadership, notably as Head of the “Black Family” and as Campaign Manager for the 2010 Students’ Union elections. He furthered his education with a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM).

A committed member of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Honourable Sannoh has held various significant positions throughout his career. He served as Personal Assistant to Dr. Kadie Sesay, the 2012 presidential running mate to then-candidate Julius Maada Bio. His professional trajectory includes roles in the private sector, such as Business Developer for Trans Sahara and CEO of Favour Investment.

In 2017, he played a vital role as Outreach and Planning Coordinator during President Bio’s successful campaign. Following this, in September 2018, he was appointed Deputy Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), quickly rising to Executive Director within two years of exemplary service. Most recently, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Communications, Technology, and Innovation until his recent promotion to Minister of Youth Affairs.

Honourable Ibrahim Sannoh is married to Mrs. Helena Suad Sannoh from Mange Bureh, Northern Sierra Leone, and they are blessed with five children. The family is known for their devout Christian faith.

As the new Minister of Youth Affairs, Sannoh is expected to focus on unlocking the potential of Sierra Leone’s youth, empowering them to take active roles in decision-making processes that shape their futures and the future of the nation.
