Ibrahim Yayah, a Personnel of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has been held in police custody for reportedly handing out his AK-47 rifle to an unidentified commercial sex worker in collateral for sexual purposes.
According to the report, the military Personnel is held at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters at Pademba Road, Freetown for questioning.
From testimonies gathered, the said officer on the 7th of February 2023, intentionally abandoned his duty post at the Central Bank of Sierra Leone and went in search of a prostitute at Garrison Street.
He succeeded in getting the prostitute and they negotiated for forty Leones (Nle 40). They both had sex but the Military Office had no money to pay the commercial sex worker for the service rendered.
He handed over his AK-47 riffle with 30 live rounds of bullets as collateral to the prostitute and left in search of the money but to no avail.
After waiting a while without seeing the Officer, the prostitute decided to take the rifle to Major Said who also conveyed the weapon to Sergeant Bangura and then, Inspector Bangura, an OSD officer for safekeeping.
