Rainbo Initiative has paid tribute to the late Sierra Leonean actress, filmmaker and social activist, Henrietta Mbawah. She died on the 17th of February 2023 due to a dental illness at age 34.

The initiative says:

“Her passing has thought us a lesson that our purpose on earth is to serve diligently and to serve humanity in whatever way we can. Etta’s life is a testimony to us. We know her as an actor, a fearless and passionate gender activist that contributed to ending sexual and gender-based violence and restored the dignity of GBV survivors and deprived communities through her edutainment and philanthropist work as the CEO of Salone Lives Matters.”

Etta has worked hard and demonstrated her passion and commitment to supporting women and girls, making Sierra Leone a better place where everyone should have access to rights and live to the fullest of their potential.

Etta has worked with Rainbo Initiative to produce movies that champion activism against sexual violence and assault on women.

The initiative and Etta have scheduled to premier a movie on March 8th 2023 but unfortunately lost Etta to death. The movie premiere is dedicated to Henrietta Mbawah and her work against SGBV. We are heartbroken by her passing, but her legacy will continue in this film and her work – for standing with and for survivors of SGBV in Sierra
Leone. Let’s fight for a Sierra Leone without SGBV together.

The initiative reveals “It is now up to us to carry on Etta’s legacy and commit to her vision of a Sierra Leone where our women’s freedom to self-determination and growth is a human right rather than a privilege.”
