Following the recent hoarding of fuel by fuel dealers across the country, at least three filling stations have been fined Le 51 Million for the aforementioned crime.

It was maintained that at least two National Petroleum and one Total filling stations during an ‘on the spot’ check, were caught hoarding a large consignment of fuel and therefore were fined accordingly.

The National Petroleum or NP filling station was fined seventeen million Leones or seventeen thousand Leones, whiles Total Filling Station was fined thirty four million Leones or thirty four thousand Leones.

It was further noted that besides the fine which one of the NP filling stations was to pay, the Manager was asked to sell the fuel which they found in possession of the station, to members of the public.

Members of Koinadugu District Council Chairman, the Sierra Leone’s People Party Chairman Koinadugu District among many others were part of the ‘on the spot’.

Meanwhile, the aforementioned authorities in the same vain caught another two filling stations hoarding fuel and the Managers of the said fuel stations were invited to Freetown for further investigations, while the common people by then still continue buying fuel forty five thousand leones on the black market.
