Mayor Aki-Sawyerr Advocates For Climate Change Financing in Freetown at COP28

Freetown City Mayor, Yvone Aki-Sawyer has advocated for more resources for financing climate action for all cities, including Freetown.

Mayor AKI-SAWYER recounted this as one of the many engagement she had in her participation in the COP28 in Dubai where she also served as Co/Chair for the C40 cities.

“My first day at COP28 in Dubai started at the opening of the World Climate Action Summit. Following that, in my capacity as C40 Cities Co/Chair, I met with the Andrew Steer, CEO of Bezos Earthfund and his team along with the Mayors of Melbourne, Hobart and Mykolaiv. I then attended the first ever Local Climate Action Summit at COP28, a summit that spotlights the critical role of cities in addressing the climate crisis. It was a pleasure to run into Kenyan President H.E. William Ruto and Commonwealth Secretary-General Baroness Patricia Scotland and Sierra Leonean Youth activists between meetings! My day ended with a private dinner hosted by former New York Mayor and philanthropist Michael Bloomberg.

In my position as C40 Cities Co-Chair, I continue to advocate for more resources for financing climate action for all cities, including Freetown.

The Current leader of Sierra Leone will not support you financially because the country is broke and also because you are not his Tribesmen nor his PAOPA killer regime member. Every funded project is sent to the South Eastern provinces and not to the North Western regions. Don't you know that? Please look out for International community support to the City. Presently, Maada Bio is desperately looking out for the strong members of the APC party like you, to arrest them or to kill them. Within the last five years, Maada Bio and his PAOPA killer security forces have killed more than a thousand innocent people in this country. Maada Bio was able to plan a FAKE coup so as to Arrest and Kill the strong people of the APC party members. Imagine, Maada Bio is keeping the Code to the Armoury store where weapons are kept. How can some people in a vehicle opened the armoury and took away weapons in a vehicle where there are security officers. Maada Bio has a PhD in coup planning including Fake coup plots. Why should seven trucks of Armed officers go to Samura Kamara's compound and garden? The intention of the PAOPA forces is to go and drop weapons in Samura Kamara's compound so that Maada Bio will have an opportunity to arrest Samura Kamara as a Coup plotter. Maada Bio is a thief and a notorious Lier. Who actually opened the door to the prison? These are all relevant questions for Maada Bio,. Why were the prison doors opened? Is it not a strategy to abort the next article on the Bintumani Agreement? Maada Bio, you are hiding behind your fingers. Maada Bio, the coup ploters were not aiming at you. Actually, the coup plotters would have targeted you for all your crimes committed in this country but the common people were their target. That shows it was not a coup plot but a stage- managed event. Maada Bio, Sierra Leoneans are not stupid anymore. We can think twice. Those days are gone when you just say things and people believe automatically what you say. This is the time we think and analysis situations. Any coup plot that does not target you and your family members is a Fake one. The coup the people of Sierra Leone will support is the one that kills you, your wife, members of your family, your ministers, Dr. Bass Chernor Bundu, the IGP, the Head of the Army, the Head of the judiciary and some prominent members of your parliament, Of course, the Clerk of the house of Parliament and many judges. Maada Bio you have to be very careful. The ICC Prosecutor is patiently waiting for you and time is getting closer.
