Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Engages BADEA President on High-Level Development Projects
Aminata Koroma The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa is considering a high-level visit to Sierra Leone following strategic discussions with the country’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Barrie, in Riyadh.
The meeting with BADEA President, Abdullah Khalil Al-Masibih, focused on strengthening development cooperation and reviewing ongoing and prospective investment projects in Sierra Leone. It was facilitated by the Bank’s Secretary General and Vice President of Operations, Dr Fatima Elsheikh.
The discussions were central to the expansion of BADEA’s development footprint in Sierra Leone, with emphasis on identifying new opportunities across key sectors. Both sides also examined ways to enhance collaboration frameworks that support the country’s broader development agenda.
The potential visit to Freetown, expected in the coming months, is seen as a step toward deepening engagement and assessing priority areas for intervention on the ground.
The talks align with Sierra Leone’s push to accelerate national development under the “Big Five Gamechangers” initiative led by President Julius Maada Bio, with partners like BADEA playing a critical role in financing and technical support.
