Though the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone(ECSL) has encountered serious challenges in the ongoing voter registration that commenced on Saturday 3rd September 2022, the commission has projected that about 3.5 million eligible citizen voters would register at the end of the voter registration. The projection is predicted on the 2021 Mid-Term Population and housing (MTPHC).

At the initial stage of the voter registration exercise, there were reports of technical challenges in most of the registration centres across the country that slowed the entire exercise.

The commission however registered about 415,465 eligible voters in four days from the commencement of the nationwide voter registration.

Many are however speculating that the commission will meet its projection or even surpass based on the cooperation of citizens to register and vote in the 24th June 2023 presidential-parliamentary and local council elections
