The Director General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), Joseph Kapuwa has been removed and replaced with Madam Josephine Kamara, Sierraloaded can authoritatively report.

Kapuwa took over as the SLBC Director-General in 2018 following his appointment by President Julius Maada Bio and subsequent approval by the Parliament of Sierra Leone.

The SLBC has recently been under investigation by both the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the board of the corporation for alleged corruption, hinging on the misuse of public funds to the tune of over two billion old Leones.

Sierraloaded reported in December 2022 how Kapuwa, a Lecturer at Fourah Bay College (FBC) and Member of the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA) was busy building mansions with unexplained money while the institution was suffering for want of badly needed funds to keep it operational.

Recently, Staff of the SLBC main headquarters in Freetown raised concerns about the corruption going on at the institution and the Ill-treatment they are receiving from the Director General.

The staff told Salone Gossip, a popular blog, that the DG unlawfully employed some staff who have turned out to be problems for other staff members of the institution. They said these staff are bent on molesting and intimidating other staff members and have even resulted to forging other people’s signatures.
